The Deadly Duo # 3

The Deadly Duo - 3 by The Deadly Duo

Greg starts off the set with a track by Dirty Beaches, off of the album Badlands. It's an album that's quickly growing on me, mainly because of the quality of the recording. It floored me when Greg first played it at his house. Right after I left his place I went home and got the album and have been listening to it almost daily. It's giving me that same nostalgic feeling that I get when I listen to Panda Bear's Person Pitch.

Damn this heat!

My '07 Macbook Pro has recently been suffering from some serious heat problems (all the way up to 93c) so I wasn't able to get Episode #3 out on the 1st. Never fear though as I have both shows ready to go now. #3 will drop on the 15th and #4 will drop on the 22nd.

The shows for July are summer themed, and we've got a special guest for these 2 shows: Emile Milgrim, owner of the Miami, FL based label Other Electricities.

The Deadly Duo # 1

Our first podcast features quite a few Shibuya-kei artists. It's a genre that I've grown to love over the last decade, but still know very little about. Over the years I've become frustrated with my language barrier because it's restricted me from finding out more about the scene, and the more obscure & lesser known bands involved in it.

Initially I was going to split up this show up into 2 segments (which is our plan for most of the shows) but our songs seemed to stack up nicely together.

/BEGIN TRANSMISSION

Welcome to The Deadly Duo podcast, a bimonthly hour-long show from Kung Fu masters Greg Walker and Scott Worley. We're not sticking to one genre or time-period for this show, we'll be playing music from many different genres. With our extensive collection of CDs & Vinyl (and silly digital files) we'll keep your ears attentive and hopefully turn you on to new bands.

The podcast will be up for streaming and downloading on the 1st and 15th of every month. Our 2 shows for the month of June are dedicated to our friends & family in Japan, so get ready for some Shibuya-kei, hip-hop, electronica, doom, and much more from Japanese artists across the globe.

We will be hosting 2 shows on SoundCloud at a time, due to their hosting limitations. After a show has been taken off of SC it will be archived and download links will be provided shortly afterwards here on the site. Downloading the shows on SoundCloud allows you to get them in their original 320kbps mp3 format.

I'm currently working on getting things set up to where you can subscribe to the show on iTunes, so when we launch a new episode you can get it immediately. I should hopefully have this figured out by TDD#2.
